Meet our August '24 Featured Family: The Lowe Family
Our Story:
"Hello! We are Stephen and Alicia Lowe. We've known each other since 2010 but didn't get married until November of 2020. We both love other cultures, have lived overseas, and have a heart for children.
While dating, we discussed the idea of participating in foster care or adoption. We wanted to provide love and belonging to children who needed it. We just didn't know when we would start the process.
In the first two years of marriage, we were hoping to start our family through biological children and after that, start the process of foster care or adoption, but this did not happen. After living with my sister and her four kids for nearly a year and without getting pregnant, we decided it would be a good time to start training for the foster care journey. We figured we did well with her four kids, why not learn about helping to care for the children of strangers?
When we started the foster care training, we thought we could complete a home study for both foster care and adoption, but the adoption agency we contacted said that would not be possible. We would need to choose one. After praying and considering, we decided to pursue adoption. Once we made that decision, we planned to adopt domestically, but the Lord had other plans! One day while scrolling on Facebook, Alicia saw the description of a set of 3 siblings come across her feed. They were at-risk of being separated because they were getting too old to remain together. We prayed about what we should do and sent in an inquiry. After a preliminary interview, Lifeline Children's Services chose us to pursue these children.
These children are needing love, support, and a home. We want to give them the opportunity to live together and flourish. In addition to the adoption fees, we will need to buy a minivan and pay for traveling expenses to Brazil. We have been fundraising, will apply for grants, and we are excited to see how the Lord provides.
Thank you for reading our story and participating in this journey with us!"
