Meet our May '26 Featured Family: The Yundt Family
1. Tell us more about your family.
I am a single mom from Illinois blessed with 7 children at home and 3 in heaven, including children with complex medical needs. Through birth and adoption, our lives are centered on love, advocacy, and a deep commitment to every child’s life and value.
2. Tell us more about your heart for adoption.
From a young age, I felt called to adopt and care for children with significant medical needs. That calling has shaped our family, leading me to welcome children through adoption and give each one a safe, loving home. It’s rooted in a deep belief that every child is valuable, worthy, and deserves to be fully known and loved.
3. Tell us more about your adoption journey so far.
My adoption journey has been guided by a willingness to say yes to children with significant medical needs. The child I am currently in the process of adopting spent five months in the hospital waiting for a family because his needs were so complex that no one felt able to step forward. I knew he still deserved more than medical care alone—he deserved a home, a childhood, and the chance to experience life as a loved and wanted child. I am committed to children who are often overlooked or considered high-risk, believing that every child deserves the opportunity to grow up in a family where they are seen, valued, and given a real chance at life experiences and belonging.
4. Tell us more about the child you are adopting.
The child I am currently in the process of adopting is a medically fragile infant with a life-limiting condition and extremely complex needs. He experiences significant daily pain, and his hands-on care requires many hours each day. In his very short life, he has already faced serious medical crises, including sepsis twice. Because of the level of care required, many families did not feel prepared or equipped to take on his needs, and he remained in the hospital for an extended period while waiting for a family.
I was drawn to him because I believe he deserves more than survival in a hospital setting. He deserves a home, comfort, love, and the chance to simply be a child. He deserves family life, stability, and the everyday joys of childhood, and I am committed to providing that for him while advocating for every aspect of his care.
Prayer Requests:
Please pray for wisdom and clear discernment as I make ongoing decisions regarding his care, and for strength and endurance as I learn to meet his complex medical needs each day. I am also asking for grace to carry the weight of care that can at times be painful for him, while still doing what is necessary for his health and well-being.
Please pray that his pain can be better managed and that his health stabilizes as much as possible. I also ask for guidance in how to shape our home and daily rhythms so he is fully included, and so his medical care becomes a natural part of our life rather than something that sets him apart.
Please pray for balance as I care for him while still being fully present for my other children and protecting the stability and childhood they know. Most of all, I am praying that he is able to experience comfort, love, belonging, and the everyday joys of childhood within the reality of his condition.
We will be donating $1 from every bag of coffee sold this month to the Braddock's Connected Hearts Ministry fund and we'd love for YOU to partner with this family to adopt their precious children!
