Meet our October '25 Featured Family: The Wilhelm Family
1. Tell us about your family.
Our family is a beautiful story of God's weaving hearts together in adoption. I am a single woman with a teaching background that embraced motherhood through adoption. My first daughter was a domestic adoption in 2015 and my second daughter was adopted internationally in 2019 from India. Most recently, we are pursuing a special needs three year old through international adoption. We are so excited to bring her home, but we need your help to complete her adoption. She has some complex medical needs that bring urgency to bringing her home as soon as we are able.
2. Tell us more about your heart for adoption.
Caring for orphans and widows was a ministry that my family as I grew up embraced. We supported and volunteered our local pregnancy support center and later, as a teacher, I spent my summers overseas providing orphan care, community development as a humanitarian worker, and teacher trainer. Advocating for orphans and widows was a joy and passion. In 2011, God called me to adopt as a single woman. Marriage hadn't happened and I felt led to pursue adoption. Four years later my firstborn adopted daughter was placed in my arms at three days old. Thus, began my journey and lifetime commitment as a mother to now three precious daughters. My third daughter is not yet in my arms. We are being faithful to pray, to work hard, to advocate, and to pursue bringing her home to our family where she will receive the medical care and love that she so desperately needs.
3. Tell us more about your adoption journey so far.
My second daughter is also adopted from India. It is so special that two of my daughters will share a similar cultural background. India is a beautiful country and I am so blessed to have the culture and heritage of India intertwined with our family through adoption.
4. Tell us more about the child you are adopting.
Havalah joy is almost three years old with profound medical needs and is considered a special needs adoption. She is currently in an orphanage and needs a loving family.
Prayer Requests:
Please pray for my daughters Eliannah and Tirzah (age 9 & 7) as they prepare to travel internationally with me to India and embrace their little sister. Each of them has had a degree of nervousness and excitement. They already love their little sister so much! However, this trip will be very complex for Tirzah as she revisits the place of her origin and her adoption story. Please pray that I can shepherd their hearts and provide support and comfort to all three of my daughters as we make this big change as a family and travel internationally. We also need the Father of the Fatherless to show up on behalf of Havalah and bring her peace/healing/grace to transition to being a beloved daughter.
I am a new home owner! Please pray that the financial burden of adoption would not inhibit me from providing well for my daughters and myself. My desire is to take time away from work for a maternity leave. Much of which will be unpaid. Please pray that God confirms the right amount of time away from my job that we as a family will need for travel and time to be still and quiet in our home upon return.
We will be donating $1 from every bag of coffee sold this month to the Wilhem's Connected Hearts Ministry fund and we'd love for YOU to partner with this family to adopt their precious child! You can donate directly to them through their Connected Hearts Ministry link, where 100% of the donation will be used for adoption-related expenses: https://give.connectedheartsministry.org/campaign/wilhelm-family-adoption-fund/c719298
