Meet our January '26 Featured Family: The Walden Family
Learn more about our Featured Family for January, a sweet family who might look familiar to some of you. We partnered with them in December '20 (one of our first Featured Families!) to help bring home their precious son from China. Unfortunately, due to the country's closure of all international adoptions, they will not be able to bring him home. Our hearts are grieving for them and this precious boy who might never know the love of a family. However, it also encourages us so much to see them stepping out in faith again to welcome another precious child into their family!
"Our journey started in 2014, when we got our first foster call for two siblings under 2 years old, one boy and one girl. Around 18 months later, we had our only biological son. In 2017, we were finally able to adopt our first foster care placement. We were sure our family was complete, but God had other plans. Towards the end of 2018, we started researching international adoption and by October 2019, we brought home a 3 1/2 year old little girl with Down Syndrome. When we were on our orphanage visit, God began to prepare our hearts to someday go back to China. Our plan was to wait until our kids were a little more grown. However, shortly after being home we began the process to go back to China and adopt a little 2 year old boy with Down Syndrome. That changed very quickly with Covid and our adoption was halted. We updated our home study every year and decided shortly before the adoption shut down to not continue on. We were so disappointed and devastated. We thought that chapter of our lives was closed and we would move on to the next. In 2022, we got a call for a newborn little girl and a little less than a year later we got a call for her newborn brother. In 2024, we saw the listing for a little one from Colombia, but the timing wasn't right. In the summer of 2025, we got the chance to finally give them our last name and make the adoption official. A year after first seeing the little girl from Colombia and some updated pictures gave us the final nudge to complete one last journey. This time it feels right."
We will be donating $1 from every bag of coffee sold this month to the Walden's Connected Hearts Ministry fund and we'd love for YOU to partner with this family to adopt their precious child! You can donate directly to them through their Connected Hearts Ministry link, where 100% of the donation will be used for adoption-related expenses: https://give.connectedheartsministry.org/campaign/walden-family-adoption-fund/c313701
